The Moretta cake - #Whitemascarpone

The Moretta cake. Nutella and whipped cream.

Who doesn't love Nutella... Come on, let's be honest with one another.
Nutella is probably one of the best sweet creams ever invented for the joy of the individuals... Am I right?

So it's time to, first of all, to be grateful to whom invented this great cream, Michele Ferrero, who unfortunately died last February, 14th (guess what, it was the Saint Valentine's day... where chocolate rules!) and, secondly, post a video recipe of an Italian famous cake where Nutella is the main ingredient.

The Moretta cake ingredients:

300gr of Nutella (10.58 oz)
200gr of plain flour (2 3/4 cups)
200gr of granulated sugar (1 cup)
4 eggs
20gr of cocoa powder (1/4 cup)
50gr of milk (1/4 cup)
16gr of baking powder (2 1/2 tspoons)
100gr of butter (almost 1 stick)
300gr of whipped cream (10.58oz)


  • Preheat the oven at 180° (356 F°)
  • Melt the butter on some boiling water. Once that it's melted, wait for the butter till it's cold enough to be used with the eggs.
  • Meanwhile whisk the eggs with the sugar, added gradually
  • Mix the flour with the cocoa powder and the baking powder, then sift them inside the eggs mixture
  • Add gradually the milk
  • Put the cold melted butter in a bowl, then carefully add a little bit of the mixture in the liquid butter and finally, stir. Then, put everything back in the big bowl.
  • Get a pan (of 24 cm of diameter) and butter it at the bottom, adding some flour too so that your cake doesn't stick.
  • Put the base of your cake in the pan and put it in the oven for approximately 40 minutes
  • Once that the cake is baked and is cold enough, cut it in two layers.
  • Take the nutella and melt it on some boiling water, then use it on top of the first layer and spread it carefully.
  • Use the whipped cream and spread it smoothly on top of the Nutella.
  • Seal the cake with the second layer and put the cake in the fridge for at least one hour (but two hours is even better!!)
  • Then, enjoy your Moretta cake with your friends with some icing sugar on top.
